Specialized Improvisation Based Workshops

The specialised improvisation based workshops uses improvisation (improvisation, or improv, is a form of live theatre in which the plot, characters and dialogue of a game, scene or story are made up in the moment) as part of a creative healing process.  The focus is not on the aesthetic merits improvisation, but on the therapeutic process.  It’s a symbolic language and provides access to unacknowledged feelings and means of integrating them into the self. These workshops invite clients into a save environment can provide a focus for discussion and self-evaluation and self-awareness. Thoughts that cannot be expressed, subconscious exploration, suppressed emotions, unrealized thoughts can be experienced and explored through improvisation. Improvisation techniques can build up the strengths and reserves of an individual and of a group so they can raise their self-esteem and liberate their creative potential.

What is the Workshop About?

Our main focus is to develop:

1. Focus & Relaxation

Equipping the individual with skills that heighten focus through relaxation techniques, to promote a positive frame of mind.  Incorporating specialized improvisation techniques to expand awareness through focus and relaxation skills.

2. Self-Confidence

Equipping the individual with skills that promote self-trust, awareness of an individual’s potential, and the ability to apply these skills to improve perception of individual’s mind, body and soul.  Focusing on the techniques of Drama and Theatre Arts, specifically improvisation, to encourage self-trust, application and dedication which results in a richer self-believe and confidence.

3. Self-Expression

Equipping the individual with skills that promote projection, articulation, pronunciation, breath control and how to practically self-express oneself verbally and non-verbally, promoting effective body language, dispensation and maneuverability of one’s body.  Endorsing practical skills focused on observation and listening.

4. Group Collaboration

Equipping the individual with skills that promote fluency within group dynamics.  To encourage effective participation within a group, with an awareness of oneself and of other individuals.  Through applying the skills necessary the individual is equipped with skills to actively function within group discussions that result in effective decision making.
